Falcao was recently asked to play for United's under 21 side in a move that has received a lot of criticism. Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, has however insisted that the move was not made to humiliate Falcao. In an recent interview, he asserted that the move was made to improve Falcao. He insisted that the move was made to improve Falcao's confidence, sharpness on the pitch and overall player well being. He believes that the game time given to Falcao will do a lot to achieve this end.Van Gaal stated that reports that he dropped Falcao to the second team to humiliate him are false reports by journalists who are desperate to sell stories.
'I let my players play in the second squad.I read in a lot of papers that it is a humiliation. I don't think so.
It is a professional attitude, of the
manager, the management, the club, but especially of the player. Not
only has Falcao played, also [Victor] Valdes and Rafa da Silva. Rafa da
Silva played a very good match and scored a very good goal. Because of
that, he can grow his confidence.Every player who does not play [in the
first team] has to play sometimes. He needed to play more minutes in the
second team. Falcao didn't play the best match in the second team but
he tried to do his utmost best. More I cannot ask from players.'
However, reports insists that Falcao is unhappy at Old Trafford. The media claim that he is regretting his choice to move to Old Trafford, over a potential move to Anfield in the summer. Liverpool, were interested in signing Falcao, but their efforts yielded no fruit due to Manchester United's interest in the Colombian. Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes, has now also alluded to the fact that Falcao is dissatisfied at Manchester United and wants to leave the club.
'He was not wrong in choosing Monaco. He is a champion.''I know if [United] give Falcao five whole games he will score in almost every one of them.
'If Falcao does not stay at Manchester, he will be at one of the other five or six best teams in the world.
We hope Falcao and Manchester United all the best moving forward. If Falcao leaves Manchester United and rediscovers his form in another team, that would be a welcome outcome. Manchester United on the other hand need to solve their goal scoring problem. Louis van Gaal is of the opinion that Falcao's less than stellar first season for Manchester United is due to his struggle to adapt to the English game. He has suggested that time will be the telling factor in this spectacle.

'We are looking for the solution for him
but you never can know that.A lot of aspects you cannot
control as a manager, neither as a player. That is also the beauty of
the footballing world. You can give fantastic performances in another
country but not in the country where you are playing football.
That is not the first example and it
shall not be the last example. A lot of players need more time to adapt
to the new situation, to the new culture, to the higher rhythm of the
English game, to a lot of aspects. You can easily write 'he cannot play football' but I cannot say that
and I don't want to say that. Falcao, and also all the other players,
are working very hard and I am very pleased with their attitude.'
