Domestic Abuse: Mayweather Allegedly Strangles His Adopted Son

According to a report by the Daily Mirror,Floyd Mayweather Jr did not learn much from his stint in prison for domestic abuse. The UK media outlet reported that Mayweather Jr, has been accused of attacking 19 year old Devion Cromwell, his adopted son, by putting him in a choke-hold for failing to obey him.

The incident occurred on halloween day last year in the 19 year old's residence in Las Vegas.The house was bought by Mayweather for his ex girlfriend Melissa Brim who is Cromwell's mother. Melissa Brim is also the mother to Mayweather's 14 year old daughter Iyanna.

Mayweather is said to have entered the residence unannounced and ordered Cromwell's friends out. It is reported that Cromwell resisted the order,then raised his voice at Mayweather shouting 'You are not my Father.' It was at this point that Mayweather lost his temper. He rushed at cromwell and put him in a marshal arts choke hold. The Daily Mirror describes the move "One arm encircled around the neck causing carotid and venous decompression and the other arm on the back of the head applying downward pressure."
Cromwell is said to have reported the incident to the police the night it happened. He has however failed to follow up on his report. Mayweather and Cromwell have not spoken to each other since the incident although Mayweather has been trying to pacify Cromwell with gifts. Cromwell has been encouraged by his relatives to press charges against Mayweather.The Statute of Limitations for the offence is  1 year so he still has time to. According to a relative of Devion Cromwell, Mayweather's excesses need to be put in check.'We are desperate for Devion to do what’s right and bring Floyd to justice,He controls our whole family through fear and money. It’s only a matter of time before it happens again or, God forbid, anything worse.'
