A day of two shock results in the Champions League

Jack the lad made two predictions today. Our first prediction was that Arsenal had just enough to overcome Monaco at home. Our second, was that Atletico Madrid
were favourites to win against Bayer Leverkusen but that due to the unpredictable nature of football we were not sure of the outcome of the match.
The second prediction proved prophetic. Both games finished with the underdogs on top. All the facts posited as possible indicators of the direction of the matches proved to be irrelevant. The beautiful game continues to remind us that attempts at predicting the game are acts of folly. Monaco amazed us. 19 year old Martial was particularly impressive and is our man of the match. Ozil, Giroud and Mertesacker were disappointing. We had picked Ozil and Giroud to shine. In Germany, Hakan Calhanoglu, provided the only and decisive goal of the game to upset the apricot. Certainly, football is unpredictable and exciting. The only statistic that proved reliable was Arsenal's failings at this stage of the Champions League since 2011.However, who is to say that at the end of the tie it wont also be meaningless. We had a great time. We're sure you did too. Give us your thoughts below.
