Doping Scandal that might finally kill Athletics

Athletics is one sport that has had its imaged tarnished so much by doping that it will take something extremely out of the ordinary to further defame its image
However, this is exactly what British Athlete Jenny Meadows thinks might have happened. By claims that the systematic doping is so deeply rooted in Russian Athletics, the sport might just have received its fatal shot.This follows a documentary by German television station WDR that IAAF officials were complicit to doping in Russia, which is alleged to be practiced by 99% of Russian athletes.
She said 'If it is as widespread as those allegations do deem, I just think it would just kill our sport. Sponsors may walk away from the sport and fans may walk away from the sport. We may never get a 100% accuracy of the scale of doping.I really hope it isn't true to that scale but I do think doping is widespread in athletics."

The claim could open the floodgates to investigations about the integrity of the achievements of other famed athletes outside Russia. If IAAF officials can be manipulated it means there is no regulation whatsoever in the sport .Surely not all Athletes are doping.
