Champions League: Atletico Madrid vs Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen travel to Madrid to face the Spanish Champions for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 draw, a game Diego Simeone & Co must be eagerly anticipating. Since surprising loss suffered at the hands of their guests  the BayArena, both teams have had different ranges of form; Bayer Leverkusen have won all four of their games while that game sparked the beginning of a win-less  run for Atletico Madrid. Atletico has also started to lose pace in the title race, dropping down to fourth, losing 3rd spot to Valencia and are now 9 points behind league leaders Barcelona, while Bayer's form has seen them climb one position on the table and are two points behind Borussia Monchengladbach within reach of a Champions League position next season

Most eyes however will be on Atletico Madrid tonight. Last season's finalists who lost the game at the last minute to a Sergio Ramos equaliser, they have been far from perfect this season and their only saving grace tonight is that they have not conceded a goal at home in this seasons edition of the European competition. For their own part in this competition, Bayer Leverkusen have not reached to quarter finals of the competition since 2002, 13 years ago. Roger Schmidt's men will be looking to correct such stats.

Coupled with the home form of Atletico this season and the hunger displayed by Leverkusen in the first , I anticipate a great game but I can't see past an Atletico win. However, I'm sure the Bayer Leverkusen will have something to say about that.
